COUNCIL BLUFFS - Weezer songs are familiar to almost anyone who listened to popular rock radio in the past couple of decades.
It followed, then, that fans of the band knew just about every word of Weezer's set Sunday night at Stir Cove.
Songs such as "Perfect Situation," "Buddy Holly" and "Say It Ain't So" were performed perfectly by the band, and the songs' lyrics were echoed back by the audience word for word.
I don't think I've seen that much of an audience belt out the words since an Elton John concert a few years ago.
Indie rock band Sleeper Agent opened with a great set that got the crowd, which did not appear to be familiar with the band, clapping and cheering for the group.
Led by the unassuming Rivers Cuomo, Weezer followed with 21 songs played during its 95-minute set.
"We are the artist formerly known as Weezer," Cuomo said after taking the stage.
