No. 4 ELKHORN
District 3
COACH: Mark Wortman, 33rd season
LAST SEASON: Elkhorn finished 12-1 and won the Class B state championship.
RETURNING STARTER: Chris Weber, senior, LB/TE; Austin Alfrey, senior, WR/DB
PLAYER TO WATCH: Weber. The 6-foot-2, 195 linebacker was the leading tackler a year ago.
KEY NEWCOMERS: After losing nearly all of its 2011 championship team, Elkhorn senior Derrick Feldman will take the reins at quarterback.
ON OFFENSE: The Antlers replace the entire backfield, and with few numbers and little depth, Elkhorn will need new players to step up.
ON DEFENSE: With Weber leading the linebackers and Alfrey returning at safety, Elkhorn will need to improve in the trenches to have a shot at a repeat title.
