Zoo animals vs. Olympians: Animals would win the gold, no contest

If the Olympic Games were held at Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo & Aquarium, humans most likely would be bested by other species from the animal kingdom in every event.

Take gymnastics. Flexible, tree-hopping lemurs probably would shine on any of the apparatus.

In fact, plenty of animals could outrun, outlast and outjump human competitors.

And you might think the gold medal in the couch-potato category would go to a human. But you'd be wrong. Sloths pass most of their time sleeping - or at least not moving - and eating. They are able to spend most daylight hours immobile (as a protection from predators) and, when they do move, it's usually very, very slowly.

We thought it would be fun to compare a few of the 2012 Olympic medal winners to some zoo counterparts.
