Sioux City Heelan senior Paul Jacobson is the lone western Iowa player selected to the Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association's Super Team.
The Super Team is comprised of the state's top 15 players, regardless of class. Jacobson, a South Dakota State recruit, was named as one of the team's four outfielders.
The state player of the year is Davis County senior Calvin Mathews, an Iowa recruit.
The IHSBCA also selected two all-state teams in each of Iowa's four classes. The coaches teams are different than the Iowa Newspaper Association's all-state teams, which are chosen by the state's sportswriters.
Twenty other western Iowa players named all-staters by the coaches, 10 to their respective first team and 10 to the second team.
First-team choices include Sioux City East's Dom Thompson-Williams in Class 4-A; Sergeant Bluff-Luton's Kendall Hazel, Denison-Schleswig's Robert Lyons, Glenwood's Alec Forbes, and Sioux City Heelan's Tyler Cropley and Tony Myers in 3-A; Carroll Kuemper's Chris Halbur in 2-A; and Coon Rapids-Bayard's Gage Reis, Council Bluffs St.
