Jayden Holman allowed just three hits and struck out four in Alliance's 4-0 win over Sidney during the opening game of the Class B, Area 7 Senior Baseball Tournament on Friday at Oregon Trail Park in Gering.

Holman, who went the distance on the mound, didn't allow a hit until the sixth inning.

"He threw great for us," Alliance coach Tom Swanson said of Holman. "He didn't have his best stuff today, but he still was able to give us a great performance. It's good to get through game one with just one pitcher. Hopefully, we can get to a point in the tournament where we can bring him back."

The win advances the fourth seeded Spartans into a matchup with top seeded Chadron today at 7 p.m.

While Alliance struggled with Chadron during the regular season, Swanson believes his Spartans are ready to break through against their northern rivals.

"We haven't played our best ball against Chadron yet," Swanson said.
