LINCOLN - Steals were the telling statistic Monday night as the Blues won the Nebraska Coaches Association girls basketball all-star game 88-71 at Lincoln North Star.
They had 14 swipes to only four for the Reds, who never led in the second half.
Kansas State recruit Brianna Craig, an All-Nebraska player from Lincoln Northeast, had a team-high 16 points for the Blues.
Craig said her team knew that it had to create a transition game since it didn't have as much height as the Reds.
"We wanted to push it as much we could and we did that better in the second half,'' she said.
Reds head coach Roger Lauhead of Wauneta-Palisade said the Blues wore down his team, which got outscored 28-16 in the final 10 minutes.
"Our legs weren't quite there at the end,'' he said. "We were a step late at times."
Alicia Armstrong of Beatrice, a Nebraska softball recruit, added 15 points for the Blues.
