DICKINSON, N.D. - Pinnacle Bank lost 11-6 to Edina (Minn.) Friday on the second day of the American Legion Central Plains Regional.

The team from Papillion-La Vista trailed 9-0 early, following mistake-filled first and second innings.

"We just gave up way too many free bases," Pinnacle Bank coach Jim Thomas said. "Walks, hit batsmen, errors. We didn't play our style of ball."

After allowing two doubles, a walk and a hit batsman in 1-2/3 innings, pitcher Cole Gruber was taken out. He gave up seven runs, just two earned. In relief, Aaron O'Dowd walked four and hit one, while giving up two runs before being taken out in the fifth.

However, Pinnacle didn't give up, Thomas said.

"We didn't quit," the coach said. "We did some good things late that should transfer over to our next game. I really, really like the fact that we didn't give up."

J.J. Benes led the late charge, as Pinnacle scored five of its six runs in the final two innings.
