Council Bluffs Abraham Lincoln is looking into the past for its basketball future.
Jason Isaacson, a 2001 graduate of A.L. who played on the last Lynx team to qualify for the Class 4-A state tournament in 2000, has agreed to take over as the school's next boys varsity basketball coach, replacing Jay Sealer.
Now 29, Isaacson has stayed around basketball since his playing days at Abraham Lincoln. He played two years at Briar Cliff before transferring to Dana College. After redshirting his first season at Dana, he thrived, earning NAIA All-America honors in 2005-06 when he averaged 25.1 points a game and set the school's single-season scoring record with 803 points. In two seasons at Dana, he averaged 21.8 points per game.
Since college, Isaacson has had assistant coaching stints at Bellevue West High School and Bellevue University, where he's coached the last three seasons. Isaacson is also a physical education teacher at Franklin Elementary School in Council Bluffs.
