Offensive lineman Ryan Klachko, who’s no longer a member of the Nebraska football program, may be closer to finding a new home.
Klachko was on hand to watch Illinois’ Tuesday morning football practice, according to a couple media reports (here’s a writeup from the State-Journal Register). Klachko’s a former standout at Sacred Heart-Griffin High School in Springfield, Ill.
Klachko redshirted during his first year at NU, and will have to sit out a season if he transfers to another Division I-A school. There’s no additional penalty to transfer within the Big Ten, assuming Husker coach Bo Pelini grants him a scholarship release.
Asked about Klachko’s departure Saturday, Pelini indicated that the program’s culture doesn’t always fit everyone. Klachko has not commented publicly.
