Spencer Allen has returned to Creighton's baseball coaching staff.
Allen was a Creighton assistant in 2005 and '06. Head coach Ed Servais said Allen's hiring was completed on Friday.
"I'm very pleased to have coach Allen back with us," Servais said. "He did a great job for us in 2005 and 2006. We are fortunate to have him working with us again."
Allen fills one of the two openings created by the departure of full-time assistants Rob Smith and Craig Moore to Ohio University. Smith was named head coach at Ohio last month, and Moore followed him there.
Allen has spent the past three seasons at Washington State, where he was the Cougars' hitting coach and recruiting coordinator.
Allen left Creighton to become a scout for the Detroit Tigers. After one season with the major league club, he decided to return to coaching, taking an assistant coach position at Purdue. He spent two seasons with the Boilermakers before moving to Washington State.
