A key cog on defense for the Creighton men's soccer team during its run to the College Cup semifinals last season, sophomore Eric Miller will look to lead another team deep into tournament play.
The Woodbury, Minn., native was selected to play on the U.S. under-20 national team in the Northern Ireland Milk Cup.
The Americans, coached by Tab Ramos, will face Denmark on Saturday at Scroggy Road in Limavady, Northern Ireland. Two days later, the team will take on Turkey at the Showgrounds in Ballymena. The playoff matches to determine final placement, including the championship in the six-team tournament, are July 26.
It's Miller's third call-up with the team. He previously attended a training camp in April. He also participated in a training camp and South America tour in June.
Miller had an impressive freshman season for the Bluejays in 2011. He helped anchor Creighton's backline that allowed five goals, and he was named to the Missouri Valley Conference and College Soccer News all-freshman teams.
