Creighton men's soccer coach Elmar Bolowich decided to use the first half of the Bluejays' exhibition game against the University of Nebraska at Omaha to experiment with personnel, hoping to find some combinations that could be successful in the regular season.

But after a scoreless first half that saw the scrappy Mavericks - playing their second season in Division I - hang with the third-ranked Bluejays, Bolowich stopped experimenting and went with what he knew.

Creighton outshot UNO 13-2 in the second half, and Eric Miller's goal in the 74th minute off a corner kick by Jose Ribas lifted the Bluejays to a 1-0 win in front of 1,640 fans at Morrison Stadium in the final exhibition match for both teams.

Creighton is now 1-0-1 in its exhibition matches, including Friday's 3-3 draw against No. 9 Maryland.

UNO is 1-1-1 after beating Drake 2-0 and playing Iowa Western Community College to a 3-3 draw last week.
