Werner Enterprises on Wednesday reported an 11 percent increase in earnings for the three months ending June 30, the company's 10th consecutive quarter of growth.

Net income for the Sarpy County-based transportation and logistics firm was $30.7 million, or 42 cents per share, up from $27.5 million, or 38 cents per share, in the same period last year.

The company had only modest growth in overall revenues, which were up 1 percent to $522 million. Revenues from value-added services, which include brokerage, freight management and international logistics operations, were stronger. In that category, revenues were up 18 percent, from $71.2 million to $84 million.

Average revenue per mile grew 2.6 percent from the second quarter of 2011.

Werner said the demand for freight seemed to follow seasonal trends, with signs of increased business from some customers. Diesel prices averaged 16 cents per gallon lower than in the second quarter of last year and 15 cents per gallon lower than in the first quarter of 2012.
