Nebraska has the 10th best business climate in the nation, according to a business facilities research magazine, with Omaha ranking No. 4 in quality of life out of 350 metropolitan areas.

Texas has the nation's best business climate, according to the magazine. Utah was No. 1 last year and No. 2 this year.

Business Facilities, which compares economic and social factors among states and cities for executives in charge of company site selections, also gave the state high marks in employment, credit quality, workforce training, ethanol production and its potential as an emerging biotechnology hub.

Quality-of-life factors considered include schools, crime rate, average income, taxes, job security, arts and recreation, pollution, commute length, health care premiums, climate and cost of living.

Lincoln ranked No. 2 in employment, reflecting its low unemployment rate. Omaha and Sioux City, Iowa, placed in the Top 10 in food processing.

Nebraska didn't make the magazine's list of economic growth potential, per-capita income, education, transportation infrastructure, tax climate, business startups, job growth, labor cost or workforce health and safety.
