August 8, 1937: The Dodge Street Bridge probably would be a suspension bridge of the self-anchoring type. Dr. D.B. Steinman, New York bridge engineer, told The World-Herald he had drawn five designs for bridges, and found that the suspension bridge would be the cheapest. "And we can make it the most beautiful bridge in the United States," Steinman said. Estimated cost was $1.37 million, Steinman said. This estimate, he said, was "very generous." He hoped it may be built for considerably less.
1956: Omaha's new Post Office Federal Courthouse, 10 stories high with an overall project cost of $9.5 million, would feature a grid design, fashioned by the harmonious use of glass, metal and brick.
