August 4, 1977: Bergan Mercy Hospital's proposal to get a $640,000 computerized X-ray scanner had been turned down by the Nebraska Health Department. The department's section of hospital and medical facilities concluded the project was "not consistent" with standards and plans developed in Nebraska under federal guidelines, according to a letter announcing the decision.
1947: Omaha's proposed anti-smoke ordinance would be discussed by the Office Building Division of the Omaha Building Owners and Managers Association. The Sanitation Commission held up action on the ordinance for more than two weeks to give the building association time to study the proposed law. A.J. Covert, president of the building owners' group, said he would bring the matter up for discussion at an executive session.
1992: An 18-year-old Omaha man was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving after a five-minute motorcycle chase that reached speeds up to 112 mph, a Nebraska State Patrol trooper said.
