In the University of Nebraska at Omaha's transition to Division I, there are certain stages to go through.

Friday night's test for the women's soccer team: a major-conference Division I foe.

"It's still going to be an adjustment every game for us," Maverick coach Don Klosterman said. "They were so much bigger than us, (more) physical, stronger. And they've got juniors and seniors who have been playing in the Big 12 for two or three years."

Iowa State struck for two quick goals and enjoyed the first leg of its weekend in Omaha while eventually posting a 4-0 victory in front of 672 at the UNO Soccer Field in the season opener for both teams. The Cyclones play Sunday at Creighton.

"The first (goal) took a little longer than we wanted," ISU coach Wendy Dillinger said. "Once the first one came ... we snuck another one in and that definitely gave us some momentum.
