LINCOLN - College football coaches and journalists who cover the sport see eye-to-eye on the preseason prospects of Nebraska.

NU is 17th in the Associated Press preseason top 25 poll, released Saturday. That's one spot below its No. 16 ranking in the USA Today/ESPN Coaches Poll.

Writers, radio broadcasters and TV reporters did choose a different team for the top spot: USC is No. 1 in the AP poll, a Pac-12 interloper in an otherwise SEC stronghold. The coaches poll had LSU ranked No. 1. Alabama is ranked second in the AP poll, while LSU, Oregon and Oklahoma round out the top five. As in the coaches poll, five SEC teams - Alabama, LSU, Georgia, South Carolina and Arkansas - made the top 10.

Michigan is the top Big Ten team at No. 8. The Wolverines even received a No.
