A 36-year-old Omaha man was in stable condition with a serious injury late Monday after he was shot by law enforcement during a 3 1/2-hour standoff in northwest Omaha.
Lance A. Wetzel suffered gunshot wounds to his abdomen and one of his arms, said Douglas County Chief Deputy Marty Bilek.
Authorities had said he was possibly armed, suicidal and had barricaded himself in his car near 141st Avenue and Franklin Street.
At least one gunshot was fired shortly after 11:30 a.m. Bilek did not release details as to what led to the shooting, saying it was still under investigation.
The identity of the deputy involved also was not released. Wetzel also may have fired his gun, Bilek said.
A few minutes after the shot was fired, an ambulance took Wetzel to Creighton University Medical Center.
The incident began earlier in the morning, when Douglas County sheriff's deputies were notified of a domestic disturbance at 14807 Pratt Court.
